Hello everyone,
Today i am going to show you how you can make a stand for your notebook for 10 euro or less. Everyone who has a laptop sometimes feels it to be HOT or its screen is too low on height and needs to bend over to see. If you are like me and don’t want to spend a fortune on “branded” notebook stands that claim fan cooling etc, then this guide is for you.

Below you can see some pictures of what we are going to create. Believe me in reality this is much better and it’s very ergonomic too.

Now let’s start by the items we will use:
1. a Box File in your choice of color
2. a Knive
3. double face tape
4. some adhensive rubbers we will use under the stand
5. metal angles on the size you prefer, i used two sizes (the (a) size is on the outer for bigger laptops and (b) on the inside for smaller laptops)
6. more angles
7. adjustable angles
8. normal tape
9. some adhensive slide (i used a material used in kitchens to dry out glasses and plates and it worked wonders, you can find any color you want) (second picture below).

note: items 6,7,8 are going to be used in order to make the stand height adjustable, not finished in this guide yet.

::: STEPS :::
- First of all we we use the adhensive material to cover the metal things coming out from the file. Cut around 6cm width of the material and use it to cover the whole back side horizontal. As you can see on the second picture i made it like a small hill from back to front in order to increase the height on the back of the laptop. To achieve this you can add below the 1-piece cover smaller pieces of the material to increase the height in the center of the 6cm width. I suggest you the pieces to have width around the same as the metals coming out.
Now you have your pieces use doubleface tape to stick them on the file. (See all the pictures on this guide to get a better idea of what i mean)
- Then we will use the same material to cover the angles we will use at the bottom of the stand to hold the laptop from falling down, for appearance but to prevent scratches on laptops touching them too. I used the angles 5a, 5b in the picture above for this step. Cut pieces of the adhensive material or anything you want and cover the 3sides of the angles leaving the one (inside side) that we will use to stick it to the file. Then after finishing with the angles use the double face to stick them below the file (below the upper part where the laptop will sit and NOT under the whole file).
- To finish the first part of the project we will use some adhensive rubbers to make the stand stable and unmovable and fixed where we place it. (pictures below)

Below you can see how the cables can be organized inside the stand. You can have them all coming through the hole at the back of the file and from inside coming out to the plug needed. In addition in the inside you can store your external hard drive or your usb hub and still be functional. This way you earn a lot of space on your desk and you are more organized.

The increased height on the back due to the small hill we created results into better airflow under the laptop so you will never have heating problems. Enough Airflow is the best way to cool your laptop down a bit. Those bulky fans not only make noise but their effect is similar to this. Consider the price too.

Total cost for me was:
0.00 kitchen adhensive material (i had this one but you can get a 1x1meter for 3euro at DIY stores)
2.60 for Box File
2.50 for rubber feets (you get around 80 in the box)
0.20 for 5b small angles
0.30 for 5a angles
3.00 for 3m double face (you can see that we definately do not use more than 1 meter)
TOTAL=8.60 and it’s obvious that many of the items can be already had or if you buy them you will have enough remainings for more projects.
(i left out 6,7,8 cause we didn’t use them)

This stand is very stable. The whole stand does not move cause of the adhensive rubber feets and the laptop is incredibly unmovable on that kitchen adhensive material. The Height Adjusting is not finished yet but you can do it the way you want. i prefer it like it is though, it makes typing a whole better experience.

I hoped you liked the tutorial, i’d be glad to answer any clarifications.
